Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke died in a helicopter crash at a farm in Marondera, along with 3 others on board around 5PM on September 30, 2026.

All 5 people aboard were confirmed dead, with initial reports indicating some discrepancies regarding the number of passengers. However, the Zimbabwe Republic Police later confirmed that 5 individuals were on board, including two pilots.

Emergency personnel and local authorities responded to the scene, where the wreckage of the helicopter was located in a wooded area. Chivayo's family spokesperson, Herbert Chivayo, expressed their grief, stating, "We are at a loss for words after the tragic incident." The family confirmed the deaths of Wicknell Chivayo and Lucy Muteke, who was also known as Lulu. Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana extended condolences to the victims' families, emphasizing the impact of the tragedy on the community.
